Are you planning to move soon? Before you start packing, make a game plan and decide which of your items are fragile so you can protect them properly during the move. To help you get started, here are 5 Must-Have supplies that will help you protect your delicate items.

1. Dishpack to protect drinking glasses

Drinking glasses are the number one most vulnerable items during any move, but with a few simple steps you can make sure they arrive in one piece. One of the main reasons glasses break so easily is failing to use the right box. A dishpack box has double-thick walls for added protection and when combined with packing paper, your wine/drinking glasses will be safe.

2. Use packing paper to protect plates

The biggest moving crime anybody can make is to pack plates without using packing paper. When they start rattling in a box, that’s when you know you’ve made a mistake. Wrap each plate in packing paper and add more sheets of packing paper on the sides to make sure the plates are well secured. Use lots of tape on the top and bottom of each box so the contents don’t burst out.

3. Use a picture box for your art

Artwork tends to break when we don’t use enough cushioning inside the moving box and when the top of the box is left open. To keep your art secure, use crumbled paper to line the bottom part of the box and then place the art inside. You can then stuff the sides and front using bubble wrap – basically you want to make sure box is packed with paper to keep the art secured.

4. Bubble-wrap for your lump shades

Lamp shades should be completely covered in eco-bubble wrap and the inner cavity of the lamp shade should be filled with packing paper. Just get enough packing paper to fill the box so the shade doesn’t shift around inside, and make sure not to place any items on top of the shade.

5. Plastic wrap for your cleaning supplies

A lot of times homeowners pack bottles of liquid cleaners without sealing them tightly, and this causes leaks and damages a lot of things. To prevent this, start by removing the cap on the bottles and place a small plastic wrap over the opening before screwing the cap back on. Make sure it’s tight, and use tape to secure the cap bottle. Place the cleaning products inside a small box and don’t pack the box too heavy. You can place packing paper inside the box so the bottles don’t shift around or fall over, and make sure you label this and every other box.

Added tip: Always use enough padding when packing your electronics so they don’t break.
